1)Go to the disk mangement.
(start-->control panel-->administrative tools-->computer mangement-->disk mangement)

2)There will be an unknown disk with an error icon and click right to initialize disk.

3)After initializing the disk, the error icon should disappear and then Click right to make a new partition.

4)New partition wizzard will pop up and select primary partition.

5)Make sure the partition size is equal to the maxium disk space.

6)Assign a drive letter to the hard disk.
7)Make the disk setting as the follow:
File System : NTFS
Allocation unit size: Default
Volume label: Local disk

The last step is to format the hard disk.After the formatting is complete, you can start to use your new hard drive.
