The Mx2wire will be a complete new category of MOBOTIX product and allows to develop new market segments and applications.

Main objective is to connect MOBOTIX cameras or other PoE or NON-PoE devices through a 2- wire copper connection. This is extremely interesting to re-use existing copper wires like antenna coax, telephone or power cables. With this device you can retro-fit older buildings, replace analog installations, extend networking to other rooms and installation sites with very low installation effort. Mx2wire is only working as pair. See system diagram:

Important Notice: MX-2Wire is only working as a set of 2 devices and therefore will be only delivered as set of 2. You can not mix Mx2wire with other Ethernet modulators.

4. Power and Bandwidth - Distance Performance

Mx2wire always starts as a class 0 device and powers PoE devices up to 7 Watt (Class2). This is the max. power available of PoE devices. However, the final power, arriving at the PoE device is depending on the length, type and quality of the used cable. Due to Physics, especially when the used cable is too long, only data can be transported but not any guaranteed power level according to PoE anymore. Therefore, we have made some measurements with different cable types, in order to give customers guidelines what can be expected under “normal” circumstances. In these cases when the cable is too long, you will read in the table at max. transported PoE power N.A. However, as MOBOTIX cameras are only requiring 3 Watt, this is sometimes sufficient to power a camera, but has to be tested on case by case.

7. Product Training

There is already an Online Product Launch Session available for MOBOTIX employees and direct partners, offered by Jens Wirok. The Product Launch Session will be available until the 10th of October.
