Quad is a video switching device that accepts video input from 4 cameras and converts them to all display on one monitor.  2 pages Quad can accept 8 channel video input.   Multiplexer is a video switching device that accepts video input from 16 cameras and converts them to all display on one monitor.   New  DVR with multiple video inputs are replacing quads and multiplexers.
